'Cause it's the New Year...

This was written earlier, and somehow I forgot to post it... Uh... Enjoy? :)

And, so, like... Wow.

Okay. Yeah, I'll bet there are plenty of posts floating around about flying cars and food pills and what have you, but I never really liked the Jetsons. What I liked was, well, the nice, shiny New Year.

Remember the first day of school, with all your new notebooks, pencils and what have you? Remember the feel of your new markers, writing all smoothly, and how black the black marker was? It's kinda like this, right? Yeah.

So, well, 2005 was a rocky start. Especially with me losing my job right smack in the second week of the year, and then not getting to work again until after my birthday. Things were getting scary there for a while, and I was just thinking about how 2005 was starting to smell as foul as 2004 when I got myself a nice, new, shiny job.

So, now you have me with my new job in March, which is also around the time that Simon and Erin got together. And the general concensus? I don't think anyone in the group could be happier about it. Except maybe Simon. But that's a later paragraph.

Then in June Cos and I got married.

That was nice. Definately nice. Of course, I've already talked about that here, but, you know, it's not every day this girl gets to marry her best friend while just basically having a weekend out with all her closest mates.

So, yeah, we'll eventually be doing a big wedding, one with all our family and friends present. The general idea was that, well, Cos' parents are in Houston, and my parents are here, but if we couldn't have one set, we shouldn't have the other. So after being told of by my mother and grandmother, we decided everyone was right, and we should just do it.

So we did.

Later on, in July, Teresa and Eric got engaged.

It was this big top secret thing (Excepting of course the fact that everyone except Teresa and I knew). They dressed Si up like a knight, complete with clanging metal sword and white socks, and Eric defeated him for the hand of the fair Teresa. They're getting married in Jamaica next week, then here the week after (For all their poor friends ;)

I got promoted at work. I am now the senior captionist, and I'll later be in charge of the voice descript portion of the company. Voice descript is kind of the opposite of closed captioning, in that it's for people who are visually impaired, which means that I'll be describing the action taking place on the screen. It's exciting, 'cause, well, voiceover work here I come. Also, loving the people I work with. There were too few great people at the bank and none at all at the agency. So it's definately a blessing to meet and work with these people.

What else? Well, we got a doggie, his name's Charlie. He's unbelievably sweet and friendly and slightly nightmarish. Which actually helps us in our "no children" policy.

Simon and Erin are living together now. It's really cute. She decided she'd move into the city and told us all she'd live on her own for a year. She and Si were always at eachother's houses, and she ended hating her place and the other tennants really quickly. So less than six months after moving in, we helped her move all her stuff into Si's place. And if you heard their voicemail, you'd know there's not a luckier man on the planet, as far as he's concerned.

So...

That was last year. This year we're looking forward to Teresa and Eric's wedding, Simon and Erin's engagement, Teresa and Eric's first baby (Not it!) a new job for Si, Cos' papers to come through and a new job for him and home for us...

Hopefully I'll be able to keep myself up with this place more in this year. But make the most of what you've got, either way.

x's...
